Become a Sponsor Family

Open your home. Change a child’s life.

Earthora Orchard Living Services is recruiting compassionate, stable families to become certified Sponsor Families for children and adolescents ages 0–17 with developmental disabilities. This is not a shift-based caregiving job — it’s a long-term, family-style living arrangement. A child moves into your home and becomes part of your household, and you provide the day-to-day care, routine, and connection a family provides, while we surround you with training, supervision, and around-the-clock support. This is a paid position, and no prior clinical or nursing background is required.

A Day In The Life

What a Typical Day Looks Like

Life with a child in your home functions like any family’s daily routine — meals, school, homework, activities, bedtime — but with extra structure and support built in. You’ll follow the child’s Individualized Service Plan (ISP), created by our clinical team to outline their specific needs and goals. Your assigned Supervisory Staff contact checks in with you weekly, and you’re included in periodic treatment team meetings where the plan is reviewed and adjusted as needed. You’re never doing this alone.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment
  • Deliver daily care and consistent routines — meals, hygiene, sleep, homework, and recreational activities
  • Implement each child’s Individualized Service Plan with guidance from your Supervisory Staff contact
  • Support behavioral needs using Positive Behavior Support and trauma-informed care, taught in our required training
  • Administer medication accurately when applicable, following proper protocol and documentation
  • Attend weekly check-ins and treatment team meetings
  • Complete required daily documentation of care provided
  • Support community integration, including transportation to school, appointments, and activities
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of each child’s personal and medical information

What We Provide

  • Full pre-service training at no cost to you
  • Weekly check-ins and treatment team meetings
  • 24/7 access to our team for guidance or emergencies
  • Ongoing supervision, coaching, and support for as long as you’re certified
  • Competitive monthly compensation

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years old, with a stable home in or near Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange, or Rappahannock County, VA, or the surrounding region
  • Patient, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a team
  • Able to pass a full background check, fingerprinting, and Central Registry review for all adult household members
  • Financially stable independent of this role’s compensation
  • Home meets basic safety and space requirements (confirmed during a home evaluation visit)
  • Willing to complete our required pre-service training — provided at no cost
  • Prior experience with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus, but not required
Compensation
